Travelling to and from Wilmington Academy

In order to ensure that students travel to and from the Academy in a safe manner, please can you note the following:

The bus lane at the academy is for buses and Milestone Academy taxis to drop off in the morning and pick up at the end of the day.  We would ask that you do not park in the bus lane but you may park on the right hand side of the driveway nearest to the academy if you are picking up at the end of the day.  The footpath from Tredegar Road is also available to help pedestrians avoid Common Lane.

We encourage all students to take road safety seriously and we actively promote that when riding a bike to school, every child should have the correct safety equipment such as a safety helmet, working bright lights and we advise that brakes have been and are regularly checked.  If your child cycles to the academy, please discuss how to ride safely to the academy.  Cycling in an unsafe manner, ‘wheelies’ or weaving in and out of traffic can cause serious injury, both to cyclists and other road users.

If travelling by foot, please encourage children to use the crossings provided and be aware of their surroundings whilst respecting our local community.

To assist with a positive start to the day, the first lesson begins at 8.40am, consequently students should be on site no later than 8.30am, to facilitate them arriving at Period 1 punctually and ready to learn, as they must be for all lessons.

Thank you for your support.
