‘Lexia’ is a computer based phonics programme, which involves units of short activities, which test a student’s ability to recognise phonic sounds correctly.  this programme is done once a week in your child’s reading lesson, and they can either use headphones provided by the Academy or a pair of their own.  It is in its first year at Wilmington Academy but has been highly successful in other schools across the globe, and we believe it can be equally successful here.

Students are not limited to one session per week and it is ideal for them to be able to complete 2 – 3 sessions per week to get the most benefit out of the programme.  They are able to do this in the LRC before school, during break or lunch or after school.  Students can also download the LEXIA app onto their phones or tablets.  The guides for downloading the app can be found at the following web addresses:
