Update from Leigh Academies Trust about Covid-19.
I am writing to assure you that the Trust and its academies are doing everything possible to protect pupils, staff and the wider community at this very challenging time.
We are very carefully monitoring advice from Public Health England and making plans to address a range of scenarios. To date our academies have cancelled all foreign trips and significantly reduced those taking place within the UK and, where appropriate, put in place additional cleaning arrangements. Now, each academy is implementing processes which enable pupils to continue learning from home should that be necessary. To this end, further guidance will be issued by each academy to parents and pupils in line with their own particular situation.
It is now clear that should your child have either a high temperature and/or a new or continuous cough they should remain at home for seven days. If this is not the case they should attend school as usual.
Ultimately, it may be necessary to close academies, but this will only be undertaken after very careful assessment, in consultation with Public Health England and in reference to the latest government guidance.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding at this time. We will keep you up to date as things develop. I would urge you to monitor in particular the information provided through your child’s academy website and parent mail systems on a regular basis.
