GCSE Results Day 2024

It is with great pride that Wilmington Academy shares the best KS4 results in the history of the academy. In the wake of an outstanding Ofsted judgement, students and staff have worked tirelessly, produced further improvements and secured a set of exceptional results. Students have achieved the highest Attainment 8 score since records began. This is the average grade a student achieves in their studies.

Striking performances from English language and maths demonstrate for every 10 students, 6 of these students secured a grade 4 pass or above, 4 a grade 5 or above with 1 out of 10 achieving a grade 7 or above.

In every attainment headline comparison inclusive of micro-populations, Wilmington Academy has performed better. Alongside English language and maths, there are many subject areas which we are proud of including; combined science, triple science, English literature, health and social care, creative media, computer science, history, art and catering to name a few! 70% of all subjects have posted a set of improved results from previous years.

Against the backdrop of Ofsted requirements, 85% of students were entered for the EBacc. As a result, modern foreign languages had a distinct increase in student participation. It is pleasing that the overall average point score of our cohort out performed last year’s national average.

Students have achieved a crop of the highest grades attainable: 44 grade 9s/Level 2 Distinction* (A** equivalent), 59 grade 8s (A* equivalent), 176 grade 7/L2 distinction (A equivalent). 20 students achieved an Attainment 8 score over 70.

Wilmington Academy looks forward to sharing some of the fantastic destinations of our students, most notably our excellent post-16 provision.

There is no greater evidence of how we ‘change lives’ at the academy than results such as these.

“I am so happy with my results. I went from failing most subjects to grades 5, 6s and 7s in the space of a year. I could not have done it without my amazing teachers who believed in me every step of the way. I am sad to be leaving Wilmington behind but I will never forget the person they made me become.”

Parent comment:

Never in a million years did I imagine that my daughter would achieve such phenomenal results. The support and dedication shown by her teachers is more than any parent could ask for. Staff have gone above and beyond for my daughter and she would not have had the confidence or ability to achieve such fantastic results without them. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!”
