Parking Concerns/ Road Safety

Dear Parents/Carers

Parking Concerns/ Road Safety

Since our return in September, we have received a number of complaints from the academy’s neighbours and the local community regarding inconsiderate and often illegal parking by parents/carers accessing the academy site in the mornings and afternoons.  This includes parking on the zig-zag lines outside of the academy, parking across private driveways and blocking paths.

As you are aware, on the academy site there is limited parking and as with most other schools in the country, we do not have a ‘parent’ car park. If you are driving your vehicle onto the academy site, please ensure that you are not blocking the main driveway into the academy, moving cones, or parking close to the pedestrian crossings outside of Reception, or the Phoenix Centre areas.  If you do need to drive to drop off or collect your child, please park considerately, or arrange a drop-off/pick-up point away from the academy site. Please be reminded that the left hand queue of traffic on the driveway is for Milestone Academy student pick up/ drop off only.

We speak to the students regularly about road safety and keeping safe when crossing the road.  You can help us to ensure that your son/daughter has a safe journey into school each morning by considering one of the following:

Walking wherever possible

Not only is this a healthy way to get some exercise, but it supports the local community with congestion.  In addition, it is much better for the environment.

Cycling to school

We have plenty of spaces to lock studen’s bicycles inside the academy gates.

Car sharing

Does anybody else live near you?  Could you take it in turns to drive in to collect your children to ease the congestion outside the school at key times during the day?

Many thanks for your continued support.

Yours faithfully
