Reintroduction of Face Masks as from Wednesday 16 June 2021

Happy student at the school wearing a facemask to avoid an infectious disease - COVID-19 pandemic lifestyle concepts

Dear Parent/Carer

Further to our communication concerning the increasing prevalence of positive cases linked to the Covid-19 variant in the locality, we have had two confirmed positive Covid-19 cases, one in Year 8 and one in Year 10.  As an additional precaution we are reintroducing the requirement for students and staff to wear face masks in indoor areas, including classrooms.  This will take effect from Wednesday 16 June until further notice. We will review the situation regularly and you will be informed of any changes.

Whilst we understand that this may be frustrating, our overriding consideration is for the health and well-being of our students and staff. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for encouraging your child to continue to test twice weekly using the Lateral Flow Devices distributed by the academy.  If you require any further tests, please contact us via admin@wilmingtonacademy.org.uk.

If you require Lateral Flow Test kits but have not yet completed the necessary consent requirements, you can do so via the COVID-19 Home Testing Google site.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours faithfully

Mr P Devlin
