Student Home Test Distribution

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you for your support for our Mass Testing Programme, which has been very successful in helping make our learning environment as safe and secure as possible.  In line with government guidance, from Tuesday 16 March we will commence the distribution of Home Testing Kits to students subject to the process outlined below. (Our staff are also moving to Home Testing through a similar process.)

In the first instance, please log on to the LAT Home Testing Portal  and select ‘Student’, ‘North West Kent’ and then ‘Wilmington Academy’.

You will then be directed to complete a stage-by-stage process:

Stage 1:  Watch the NHS Testing video, which provides a guide to the testing process and then complete the declaration for the relevant year group for your child if in Year 7-10.  If your child is in Year 11 or Post 16, they can complete the declaration themselves via their Wilmington Academy email account.  It is important that this is completed as without a completed declaration we will be unable to provide your child with a Home Testing Kit.

Stage 2:  Give consent for your child to be tested for Year 7-10 or if your child is in Year 11 or Post 16 they can give consent themselves. If consent has already been provided for the Lateral Flow Testing that has already taken place at the academy, you do not need to provide consent again.

Stage 3:  Once stages 1 and 2 are complete, your son/daughter will be issued with a Home Testing kit to bring home from the academy as soon as practicable. .

Stage 4:  Provides guidance on who should administer the tests, suggested timing and frequency {every 3-4 days) and additional information on any other potential issues related to testing and prevention of infection.

Stage 5:  Explains how to report the test result to the NHS, which needs to be completed for all test results (positive, negative or void).

Stage 6:  How to report a positive test result to the academy, as we do not receive the test result.  (You do not need to report negative or void results to the academy).  There is also a link to book a confirmatory PCR test with subsequent guidance.

If you require any further information or clarification, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your ongoing support in ensuring that we are able to keep our community safe.

Yours faithfully,

Mr M Gore
Principal
