Dear Parent/Carer
At Wilmington Academy we are focused on supporting staff, students and parents/carers in developing positive wellbeing and have put numerous measures in place over the last academic year to try and achieve this. Below are some of the interventions and support we implemented last academic year, which includes those we were able to put in place during lockdown:
Staff | Students | Parents |
Free flu jabs | Check-in calls during lockdown | Wellbeing Manager support |
Exercise classes on-site | Provide one to one emotional support for over 200 students to be able to cope with anxiety and stress and other issues, meaning better educational outcomes | Resources for parents on the Wellbeing Google Classroom |
Confidential support for all staff | Support for students to improve their attendance | Check-in calls during lockdown |
Support in returning to the academy in June 2020 | Provide transition day for students identified as vulnerable or who may struggle with change to secondary school | Parent Forum |
Staff wellbeing group | Resources for students on the Wellbeing Google Classroom | Modular bulletin during lockdown |
Support in returning to the academy in September 2020 |
We will be looking to continue some of these provisions this year, as well as introducing further support measures across all stakeholders.
As an academy we have the opportunity to gain national recognition for our hard work in the field of wellbeing and are working towards gaining accreditation for the ‘Wellbeing Award for Schools’ in partnership with The National Children’s Bureau later in the academic year.
As part of the award we need to gain feedback from the different stakeholders at the academy, this includes students and yourselves as parents/carers. Below is a link to a short online survey regarding the wellbeing provision at Wilmington Academy, and we would be very grateful if you could spare the time to complete this as it will support us in further developing and enhancing our wellbeing provision.
If you have trouble accessing this link, please copy and paste it into your browser (https://app.awardplace.co.uk/stakeholder-evaluations/user-survey/5f71d22fec7d5).
Students will also be sent a link to a survey for them to complete, this will be done as part of their tutor time activities.
We thank you in advance for your support in completing the survey. We will use the feedback received to further develop our Wellbeing provision at Wilmington Academy.
Yours faithfully
