Three post-16 students talking

Dear Parents/Carers,

To help support your son’s/daughter’s forthcoming GCSE and BTEC examinations and coursework completion, we have scheduled two drop down days this week on Thursday and Friday. The drop-down will give students time to complete coursework and to gain valuable exam preparation skills in Mathematics, History and Geography.

We have attached the programme below – please note that year 11 students will be in school until 4pm on both Thursday and Friday.

As previously advised, there is an Easter Revision Programme running over the 2 week holiday. All sessions are by invitation only and you will receive an email and a text (the day before) if we would like your child to attend. We are offering 26 sessions and here is a further link to the programme: Easter Revision Programme.

The senior leadership team held an assembly with year 11 students this morning, when students were given an overview for module 5 and 6, including the support that is available to them. Students were given a copy of their individual exam timetable yesterday, please would you review this with your son/daughter.

Students should have written a home revision timetable and be revising little and often. There are many ways to revise and the majority of these can be accessed via your child’s Google Classroom or by using their exercise books:

  • SENECA
  • Spark Maths
  • Tassomai
  • Re-writing notes
  • Highlighting notes
  • Re-reading and annotating exemplars
  • Creating mind maps
  • A list of bullet points
  • Make flash cards
  • Using YouTube
  • Making posters containing quotations and facts
  • Writing practice questions under timed conditions

Please find a link to a revision calendar on this link: revision calendar. This will help your child to make a revision timetable, should they still need to do this.

Many thanks for your ongoing support, if you have any questions about the topics in this letter, please contact your son’s/daughter’s college office in the first instance.

Yours faithfully,

Stephanie Goodall
