Year 11 Update

Dear Parents/Carers,

I would like to take this opportunity to say how proud we are of all students’ resilience and the effort they have shown throughout the challenges created by the global pandemic. Now is the time for one final push to ensure all students achieve the grades they deserve.

Year 11 Teacher Assessed Grades (TAG) Completion and Timetable Revision

To support ongoing completion of Teacher Assessed Grades in all subjects, year 11 students will be provided with a bespoke timetable from Monday 17 May to the end of Module 5. This is needed to ensure that students can provide the academy with their evidence, such as  coursework and associated assessments, before final Teacher Assessed Grades (TAG) are submitted to exam boards.

From Monday 17 May the timetable will be changed to enable students to complete their final assessments and coursework in Option subjects (with the exception of English on Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 May which have assessments on these days).

The revised timetable will provide support to all students to ensure required elements of work are completed to the highest possible standards and can be moderated before national deadlines. To enable your son/daughter to achieve the highest possible grades it is essential that they attend school every day during this period of coursework and assessment completion.  Option lessons on Wednesday 19 May will run until 3pm, so that time can be split evenly across the week between option A and option B subjects.

Arrangements for Module 6

From Monday 17 May, we will introduce a TAG tracker to monitor the completion of each students’ evidence portfolios for each of their subjects. The tracker will emphasise if students have completed or not completed evidence for each of their subjects populated by the subject leader.

If a student has completed their evidence portfolio. Students will not be expected to attend the academy on site in Module 6 (unless they are attending the Wilmington Academy Post-16 Induction day).

If a student has not completed their evidence portfolio. Students will only have a 2-week window between 7 June – 18 June to attend the academy and complete their final pieces of evidence so we can submit to the examination board. Non-attendance will be unauthorised.

It is extremely important that your son/daughter brings their device to school every day and we would appreciate your support in ensuring that your child is fully equipped to complete their coursework to the required standard in their option subjects. Students will revert to their normal timetable from Tuesday 25 May 2021.

The details contained in this letter have been explained to students in a bespoke Year 11 assembly  earlier today.

Please let your son’s/daughter’s college team know if you have any questions.

Yours faithfully,

Mr M Gore

Principal
