Detentions at Wilmington Academy

Dear Parents and Carers

RE: Detentions at Wilmington Academy

Over the autumn break, we took the opportunity to review our detentions process and introduce developments that will further improve how they are managed. We value all feedback, and understand the importance of a fair and effective system for both students and parents/carers.

The academy has been working diligently to ensure the following:

  • Changes to notifications: messages about detentions will now be sent via email. Please ensure 11415@bromcomcloud.com is added to your safe senders list and that you check it is not blocked, as the messages could end up in your spam/junk folders.
  • Creation of a bespoke email (detentions@wilmingtonacademy.org.uk): if you have any questions or concerns about detentions please contact this email. It will be monitored by our pastoral lead practitioners who will either resolve your question or request contact from the relevant member of staff.

Detentions will still be shown in the MCAS app (see the screenshots here). If you are experiencing issues with the MCAS app please contact your child’s College Admin team.  This will show you when and where the detention is as well as if they attended the detention.

In the event that a location is showing as “Default” please ask your child to go to that teacher’s classroom or faculty area.

We are committed to fostering a positive learning environment and believe these changes will further improve a more efficient and transparent detention process.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours faithfully
David O’Leary | Vice Principal, Head of Jupiter College, Lead on Behaviour
