Application Process for Post-16

Thank you for showing interest in applying to Wilmington Academy Post 16 for a place in September 2021. Due to the current Covid restrictions, we are regrettably unable to offer an onsite Open Evening or tours this academic year.

In lieu of this, we are proud to be launching our prospective student website which can be found here. The website will be live from Thursday 8th October 2020 and will include:

  • Principal welcome video
  • Meet the Post 16 team – videos from the Head of Post 16, the Pastoral Coordinator, and IBCP Coordinator
  • School virtual tour
  • Subject information videos
  • Ask a question feature

We are very proud of our school, and have had many opportunities to celebrate:

  • We are an International Baccalaureate World School, delivering the International Baccalaureate Careers-related Programme (IBCP)
  • Average grade and scores for Level 3 Qualifications (A Levels, IB Diplomas, BTEC and Applied General Qualifications) are above both national and Kent averages
  • Many IB Diploma courses are above global averages including: IB English Language and Literature, IB Film Studies, and IB History
  • We adopt a personalised approach to learning, focusing on developing students ‘Beyond their Qualifications’
  • A caring and supportive environment, with a real sense of community, offering extensive enrichment opportunities and careers support
  • Proven track record of students going on to their first choice university or apprenticeship provider

Should you wish to apply to us for Post 16, please see below for our application process:

Postal/Email Application Process

We also accept paper applications via the post or by emailing post16@wilmingtonacademy.org.uk. The documentation you will need for this is available through the following links below.

Prospective students wishing to join us are invited to attend an interview with a member of the Post 16 Team from December onwards.  Applicants will receive a letter confirming the time and date of their interviews, and parents/carers are more than welcome to attend.  There is no definitive date for when applications need to be handed in but the sooner the better.

Online Application Process

The online application procedure has opened via the Kent Choices4U website. If you currently attend a Kent school, you will have been issued with a username and password to enable you to access this process. Any problems, please speak to your current education provider.  For instructions on how to logon please click the link below:
