16 to 19 Tuition Fund Statement 2023-25

The purpose of this statement is to set out how Wilmington Academy will use the 16-19 tuition fund to support students whose learning was disrupted because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The tuition fund is for the 2021-2022 academic year only.

Who will be supported with this fund?

  • The funding is to support those aged 16-19 students who have not already achieved a GCSE grade 4 or above in maths and/or English by age 16.
  • Students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) –  who require additional tuition to help them catch up with their studies
  • Students who are from an economically disadvantaged background, who require catch-up support.

Intention

The overall intention of Wilmington Academy is to use the funding to enable Post 16 students to have additional support required to help with the disruption of learning caused by coronavirus (Covid 19). We strive to negate the impact Covid-19 may have on learning and outcomes. We intend for all pupils to achieve the targets in our Academy Performance Agreement (SEF) around pupil outcomes. 

Action Plan – Funding will help facilitate the following

  • Tuition and additional support provided using a blend of on site and remote delivery.
  • Support for SEND and High Needs Students
  • Vocational assessment/coursework catch-up sessions outside of normal school hours.
  • Academic and study skills catch up sessions outside of normal school hours.
  •  Run intervention / extension sessions in addition to existing timetabled hours.
  • 1 to 1 and small group study skills sessions to support academic progress
  • GCSE resit preparation for those who did not attain a grade 4 in English or Maths.
  • To purchase bespoke resources for students targeted in the tuition catch up and use these to support their learning
  • All catch up and intervention sessions will be delivered on an individual basis or in groups no larger than 5 students.

Wilmington Academy is committed to ensuring that the tuition fund is used in accordance with the Government’s guidance on the 16 to 19 Tuition Fund.This statement is in line with the Government guidance and we have published this statement to demonstrate how this additional funding will be utilised in the academic year 2023/24.
