Dear Parents/Carers
Module 2
We hope that you had an enjoyable half-term holiday. Module 2 starts on Monday 6 November at 8:30am with students returning to their timetabled lessons from period 1.
Absence Procedure
As we enter the winter months, we wanted to remind you of the procedure you should follow if your child is unwell and unable to attend school. You must telephone or email the academy by 8:30am on every day that your child is absent from school, with the reason for your child’s absence and their likely return date. This is so that your child’s absence can be recorded correctly and so that this is not logged as an unauthorised absence. KCC monitors the attendance of all students on our roll and the Department for Education sets an attendance target as a minimum of 95% for every student. During their absence, your child will be able to access their normal lessons from home via Google Classroom.
For longer absences, please contact your child’s college office so that appropriate evidence can be provided and support be put in place whilst your child is absent.
- Jupiter College – jupiter-admin@wilmingtonacademy.org.uk
- Apollo College – apollo-admin@wilmingtonacademy.org.uk
- Minerva College – minerva-admin@wilmingtonacademy.org.uk
Please remember that your child must be on site by 8.25am every day, so that they are able to start lesson one promptly at 8:30am.
Bike Store
If your child cycles to school we have moved the bike store into a secure area inside the academy grounds. Your child will access this area via the side gate and then turn left to the new area which is located by the side of the Phoenix Centre, behind the Neptune building.
As previously advised, E-Scooters are banned from the academy site and must not be used by your child as a means of transport for their journey to and from the academy.
Post-16 Open Evening
On Thursday 9 November we will be holding our Post-16 Open Evening for Year 11 students and parents/carers from 4.30-7.30pm. It is really important that Year 11 students attend, so that they can look at the excellent range of IB, Vocational and T-Level courses that we have on offer from September 2024.
Knowledge Organisers/Homework
The knowledge organisers for Module 2 can be found by clicking on this link. Please ensure that your son/daughter is reviewing their knowledge organiser for each subject as this is their homework for the module. These are used as a basis for the ‘do it now’ activity at the start of every lesson, which helps your son’s/daughter’s knowledge to improve over time.
