Years 7 & 8 Baseline Assessments 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

Due to the impact of COVID-19, all Key Stage 2 National Assessments (SATs) were cancelled in 2020 and 2021. We are writing to inform you that students will be sitting baseline assessments for Year 7 and Year 8 from the week commencing Monday 4th October 2021.

There will be some minor disruption to the usual timetable, however the importance of these assessments will support the future learning and outcomes for your child.

Wilmington Academy has invested in using an online platform that will provide us with important information, in line with previous SATs assessments. Teaching staff and leaders will use this information to identify areas of strength and development for each student. Therefore, targeted interventions and extension resources can be utilised to provide further support to students.

As you are aware, all Year 7 and 8 students have been provided with a Chromebook which is part of the daily equipment expectations. For the assessments, it is vital that all students bring a fully charged Chromebook to school every day next week.

Thank you for your support in this matter.

Yours faithfully,

Patrick Lonergan
